Dear Parents and Guardians,
We want to share a final update regarding the incident at Domingo Trevino Middle School today.
At approximately 3:38 PM, the campus received a call reporting a possible bomb threat. Out of an abundance of caution, the school immediately implemented our established District safety protocols and evacuated students and staff while law enforcement responded.
The evacuation was completed and secured by 4:35 PM. Law enforcement conducted a full sweep of the campus and determined that the threat was non-credible and the call was a prank. Preliminary information indicates the prank originated from a juvenile. The incident remains under investigation, and we will continue working with law enforcement to identify and hold the individual responsible.
At no time were students or staff in danger. Students were safely returned to campus and normal operations resumed prior to dismissal.
We want to reassure families that La Joya ISD takes every report seriously and follows established safety procedures every time. These protocols are in place to protect students and staff, and today’s response reflects our commitment to student safety.
We also ask for your partnership in speaking with your children about the seriousness of making prank threats. These actions are not jokes and carry serious consequences, including the possibility of criminal charges. La Joya ISD will follow through with criminal charges and any other actions where necessary and allowable in alignment with the law in order to send clear messages that we do not take false threats lightly. False threats disrupt learning, place stress on students, staff, and families and require emergency response resources to be deployed which may take them away from another campus which may have a need that is substantiated.
We thank you for your patience and cooperation today. The safety and well-being of our students will always remain our highest priority at La Joya ISD and building your trust in us to take care of your children is something we are all committed to, each and every day.

Queremos compartir una actualización final sobre el incidente ocurrido hoy en la Escuela Secundaria Domingo Treviño.
Aproximadamente a las 3:38 p. m., el plantel recibió una llamada reportando una posible amenaza de bomba. Por precaución, la escuela implementó de inmediato los protocolos de seguridad establecidos por el Distrito y evacuó a los estudiantes y al personal mientras las autoridades respondían.
La evacuación se completó y aseguró a las 4:35 p. m. Las autoridades realizaron una revisión exhaustiva del plantel y determinaron que la amenaza no era creíble y que la llamada fue una broma. La información preliminar indica que la broma se originó con un menor de edad. El incidente continúa bajo investigación y seguiremos colaborando con las autoridades para identificar y responsabilizar a la persona involucrada.
En ningún momento los estudiantes ni el personal estuvieron en peligro. Los estudiantes regresaron de manera segura al plantel y las operaciones normales se reanudaron antes de la hora de salida.
Queremos asegurar a las familias que La Joya ISD toma cada reporte con seriedad y sigue los procedimientos de seguridad establecidos en todo momento. Estos protocolos existen para proteger a los estudiantes y al personal, y la respuesta de hoy refleja nuestro compromiso con la seguridad estudiantil.
También solicitamos su apoyo para hablar con sus hijos sobre la seriedad de realizar amenazas falsas. Estas acciones no son una broma y conllevan consecuencias graves, incluida la posibilidad de cargos criminales. La Joya ISD procederá con cargos criminales y con cualquier otra acción necesaria y permitida por la ley para enviar un mensaje claro de que no se toman a la ligera las amenazas falsas.
